I’m not sure what Antifa thought was going to happen, but what happened in New Mexico was definitely inevitable and Antifa has no one to blame but themselves.
You’ve likely seen the video of the incident that went down in New Mexico between Antifa rioters trying to tear down a statue and a man who defended himself from said mob by shooting one its members in self-defense. If you haven’t, I wholly recommend reading up on Streiff’s detailed rundown and commentary about it.
As Streiff made clear, this is a pretty cut-and-dry moment. The man in the blue shirt was doing his best to withdraw but was pursued by members of the mob who were beating him with skateboards while another member of the mob was encouraging the rest to kill him. The man in the blue shirt attempted to run but was tackled. He regained himself, drew his weapon, and fired on his foremost attacker. The crowd went from viciously violent to hysterically frightened and beat a hasty retreat with the man shouting for his death now telling everyone to run.
What a perfect set of metaphors.
Time and again, Antifa have pushed intimidation and violence upon the innocent Americans. They have threatened us, torn down and burned our businesses, showed up at our homes, and even conducted hostile takeovers of city blocks.
Collectively speaking, Americans are peaceful people who will try every non-violent solution before we, ourselves, resort to any kind of violence. It’s the way we’ve done things before our nation’s founding. Even our most famous moments of defiance of authority were incredibly polite. But Americans have also proved that once the sleeping giant is awakened, whoever is on the receiving end of its wrath will suffer. Whatever we do in return is going to hurt and it’s going to hurt badly.
