It is not very far-fetched, given the overblown fear of COVID, that businesses such as theaters, stadiums, and just about anywhere people gather will start requiring people to 'show their papers.'

March 15, 2021 (American Thinker) — Although I know verification of health status is a reasonable condition of entry for countries, I am dubious about the fear of COVID as a cause for new conditions for international or domestic travel. Several countries are implementing or seriously considering having your COVID vaccination status indicated on your passport to gain entry. I am against this because, as a Catholic, I refuse to introduce something so untested long-term, and so unknown into the body God has given me. I will add that I simply do not believe that COVID is as deadly as it's been made out to be.

Leaving faith aside, I worry that just like the other damaging restrictions various governments have implemented, tying travel to COVID vaccination status is too disruptive. People like me won't be able to travel at all if this becomes the norm. As a consultant, I travel constantly, and I lost out on significant income in 2020 due to government-imposed restrictions. The incentive to feed our families will pressure millions of people to get vaccinated even though they don't want to.

Further, local businesses could require proof of vaccination to access their premises. All over the world, hotels customarily hold foreigners' passports while they stay. It is not very far-fetched, given the overblown fear of COVID, that businesses such as theaters, stadiums, and just about anywhere people gather will start requiring people to "show their papers." We can have it noted on our driver's licenses just to make it a little easier than carrying two documents, or perhaps there's an app for that.

Regardless, now there is one more reason for the government, Big Tech, and others to track and restrict our movements. If you don't believe that all of them will end up abusing this, you're simply too young or too frightened to face the truth. Restricting people's movement based upon COVID vaccination status will not protect anyone anyway. If that were true, countries and states that implemented previous restrictions would not have the same incidences of COVID as countries and states that had few or no restrictions.

We cannot sterilize the world, and as I've said before, if you want to increase your chances of survival, masks and stamped passports are not the answer. Rather, eat healthily, get off the P.C., work out, and don't get fat. Obesity and its related conditions — along with advanced age — are the reasons 94% of people die with COVID. Not from COVID — but with COVID. We need not only to lift the current restrictions, but to prevent foolhardy new restrictions from going into effect.

My personal opinion is that anyone who feels the need to take the vaccine should definitely do so. I also believe that no one should be forced or coerced to do it.

I would hope, however, that prolife Christians would refuse the Johnson and Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines because of their close association with aborted fetal stem cell lines. Moderna and Pfizer are considered remote enough to still be ethical. I'll try to post some articles on these.

Catholics must weigh ethical considerations in the development of COVID-19 vaccine

As pharmaceutical companies come closer to releasing coronavirus vaccines, several moral issues emerge for consideration among Catholics, said two Catholic health care ethicists.

How the vaccines are made must be considered, including whether they have illicit materials such as abortion-derived cell lines, said Father Peter Fonseca, a bioethicist and parochial administrator of St. Theodore Parish in Flint Hill. With more than two dozen vaccine candidates in development, it is important to understand how they are developed, said Father Fonseca, who holds a certificate in health care ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center and a master’s degree in bioethics from the University of Mary.

Two of the primary vaccine candidates, manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna, do not directly use cell lines from fetal tissue taken from the body of an aborted baby, a recent memo from the U.S. bishops reiterated. However, both used aborted fetal cell lines in confirmation status testing, which the bishops have said is a “relatively remote” connection.
The Vatican has long held that vaccines with aborted fetal cell lines are morally permissible if no alternative exists. In 2005, the Pontifical Academy for Life wrote in “Moral Reflections on Vaccines Prepared from Cells Derived from Aborted Human Foetuses” that vaccines that do not have an alternative are necessary in order to “avoid a serious risk not only for one’s own children but also … for the health conditions of the population as a whole — especially for pregnant women.”

But with that comes a responsibility to urge drug manufacturers and health care providers to promote ethically created vaccines. The Pontifical Academy for Life also wrote that there is a “duty to take recourse to alternative vaccines (if they exist), putting pressure on political authorities and health systems so that other vaccines without moral problems become available.”

The Pontifical Academy for Life wrote that Catholics have a responsibility to push for the creation of morally just, alternative vaccines, but it also said they should not sacrifice the common good of public health because there is no substitute.

The Missouri bishops also issued a statement on COVID-19 vaccines, in which they wrote that “everyone should have access to a safe and effective vaccine, and no one should have to face being inoculated with a vaccine derived in an unethical manner.”

The bishops also noted that “vaccines currently in development which utilize problematic cell lines, however, should not keep Catholics from seeking vaccination. Preserving one’s health and that of others outweighs the remote association with past abortions which were neither desired nor intended by those now using the vaccines.”

Vaccine Passports Are a ‘Terrible Idea,’ Says Florida Gov. DeSantis

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that vaccine passports that require a person who is vaccinated for COVID-19 to participate in certain activities is a “terrible idea” and won’t get support in Florida.

“The vaccine passport is a terrible idea. We are definitely not going to require anything from the state’s perspective. That is totally off the table,” DeSantis, a Republican, told reporters on Thursday. “If I have businesses that want to do that in Florida, I think that that’s more than just a private decision.”

The idea of a CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus vaccine passport has been floated by some countries and businesses in recent months. However, critics say the proposal would be a violation of Americans’ civil liberties.

“Look, if you want to go to a movie theater or concert, all this stuff, go. If you don’t, don’t. But to require somebody to show some type of proof of vaccination, I think, is completely unacceptable, and it’s not something that we’re going to support here in any way in Florida,” DeSantis said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged countries not to use a CCP virus vaccine passport system due to how vaccines are being rolled out and distributed worldwide. Meanwhile, CCP mouthpiece The Global Times suggested earlier in March that the Chinese regime should build an international “vaccine passport” system.

“Chinese experts noted on Tuesday that China can help by sharing its experience with and provide technical support to the WHO to organize the issue,” the Global Times wrote. “As China is the most experienced country in using a health code system in the world while the WHO is the most proper organizer for the matter to ensure independence, fairness, and data security.”


China this month also launched its own “vaccine passport” system for Chinese nationals traveling internationally.

The digital certificate shows a user’s vaccination status and CCP virus test results. It is accessible via a program on WeChat, a Chinese social media platform, as reported by Al Jazeera.

Meanwhile, a significant number of Americans have expressed skepticism about the CCP virus vaccines. A Harvard CAPS-Harris poll earlier this month found that 41 percent of respondents said they are not willing to receive the shot.

“The single most concerning number in this moths poll is that 4 in 10 of those who have not been vaccinated do not want to take the vaccine. This includes 60 percent of Black voters,” Harvard CAPS-Harris polling director Mark Penn said in an interview with The Hill.
